Dr. Priyantha Mudalige is the current Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Institute of Local Governance (SLILG). He is a distinguished academic and governance expert with extensive experience in Political Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Saga University, Japan in 2023, along with an MPhil in 2014, MA in Political Science in 2007 and BA in Political Science with First Class honors in 2006 from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka. As a Senior Lecturer (Grade I) in Political Science at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic discourse on governance, policy implementation, local service delivery and decentralization. His research on devolution of power, fiscal decentralization, and good governance has been published in indexed international journals such as the European Scientific Journal, International Social Science Journal, and Saga University Economic Review. Additionally, he has authored several books in Sinhala, further contributing to the field of Political Science and governance studies.

Beyond academia, Dr. Mudalige has actively engaged in policy discussions and governance reforms, making significant contributions through research, training programs, and institutional leadership. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences, chaired research symposia, and served as an editorial board member and reviewer for reputed academic journals. His appointment as the Director of the Sri Lanka Institute of Local Governance is a testament to his expertise and commitment to enhancing local governance structures. With his strong academic background and leadership experience, he is well-positioned to drive meaningful reforms, strengthen policy implementation, and support the development of effective local government institutions in Sri Lanka.
